The ART CleanBox Pro is a two-channel, bidirectional, active audio level converter designed to interconnect professional and consumer audio equipment with different signal levels and connection types (balanced and unbalanced). It is especially useful in studios, live sound installations, and DJ setups where signal level matching is necessary.
Features
-
Bidirectional Conversion: CleanBox Pro can convert:
-
Unbalanced to balanced signal: Converts two channels of consumer-grade audio (e.g., from a computer, DVD player, or smartphone) to professional-grade (XLR).
-
Balanced to Unbalanced Signal: Converts two channels of professional-grade audio (XLR) to consumer-grade audio (RCA and miniphone).
-
Independent Level Controls: Each conversion section has its own stereo level controls, allowing you to precisely optimize and adjust input and output signals.
-
Versatile connections:
-
XLR Inputs/Outputs: For professional-grade balanced audio.
-
RCA and miniphone (1/8") inputs/outputs: For consumer-grade unbalanced audio.
-
Rugged Housing: Constructed with a rugged extruded aluminum housing, making it durable and ideal for portable and on-the-go use.
-
Low Noise Circuit: The internal electronics are designed to have low noise and low distortion, ensuring that the quality of the audio signal is maintained.
Typical applications
-
Recording studios: Interconnects professional equipment (with XLR inputs and outputs) to consumer equipment such as computers (with miniphone outputs) or audio players.
-
Live Sound Installations: Allows you to connect audio from a laptop or other consumer device to a professional audio mixer.
-
DJ and AV Setups: Troubleshoots connection issues between mixers, media players, and PA systems that use different connection standards.
-
Noisy environments: As an active converter for balanced signals, it helps increase immunity to external electrical noise such as hum, especially on long cable runs.
Important note
Unlike other models in the CleanBox line (such as the CleanBox II), the CleanBox Pro does not use isolation transformers and is therefore not specifically designed to eliminate ground loops. For this purpose, other ART products, such as the CleanBox II or the DTI, are better suited.
